As is tradition, the community of Boring will once again gather in Boring Station Trailhead Park, 28008 Keller Road, to celebrate the Boring & Dull Day on Friday, Aug. 9.

At 4:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, the festivities commemorating Boring, Oregon, and Dull, Scotland, becoming “A Pair for the Ages” will kick off with the second shortest parade in Oregon.

Longtime community volunteers Marlin and Sharon Marsh will serve as bland marshals of the parade.

Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy ice cream served by local nonprofit volunteers and listen to live music and learn more about the organizations and people that have invested in the community’s past, present and future.

Music will be provided by the Boring & Dull Day Ensemble, a pipes and drum group that includes Rob McKendrick on drum with Jeff Brewer and Rob Barrick playing the bagpipes, as well as local rock ‘n’ roll band Ron Ruedi and the Hurricanes.

Volunteers will begin scooping and serving ice cream at 5 p.m. The opening ceremony to commemorate the pairing behind the event will occur at 6 p.m. with performances by the Boring & Dull Day Ensemble. Drawings for the raffle will take place at 7 p.m.

“We are so excited about this year’s raffle. We have 54 prizes from businesses all around that total over $7,500 in value,” said acting President Steve Bates. “This, by far is. the best raffle we have had in our twelve-year raffle history.”

The grand prize is a $1,000 VISA Gift Card. Rolli’s Auto Detail of Boring has donated second prize which is a $850 auto detail package. Third Prize is a Les Schwab Auto Care Package valued at $580.

There are only 999 tickets printed. With 54 prizes, that means that there is a 1 in 18 chance of winning. The drawing will be conducted at 7 p.m. Aug. 9. You do not need to be present to win. The tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the following local establishments:
