Investigation underway in Dorchester after crash with one dead, one suffers broken leg

Police are investigating a crash in Dorchester that left one dead and another with a broken leg Friday night.

Police responded to the area around 24 Fifield Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. for a reported crash.

Upon arrival, officers located the passenger of the vehicle an adult male, who had a broken leg, he was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say a death investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.

Boston police initially said they were investigating the incident as a shooting.
