Aurora borealis delights New Englanders

The Northern Lights from Sunday may still be visible Tuesday night. Here's what was captured by those who experienced the aurora borealis.

Sunday night’s peaking Perseid meteor shower was followed by a colorful surprise for New Englanders.

Northern Lights lit up the sky from New England, reaching down as far as Texas. The aurora borealis was visible in parts of Connecticut, Maine, Mass., and Rhode Island from Sunday night into early Monday morning.

On Monday, the G3-level geomagnetic conditions from this weekend developed into a G4 (Severe) Geomagnetic Storm and is expected to persist through today, possibly giving locals another the chance to see the aurora borealis.
