Former NFL player and Boston College alum Gosder Cherilus was arrested by Massachusetts State Police in Logan Airport on Sunday, authorities said.

Cherlius, who lives in Wakefield, allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger on a flight to Dublin, State Police said in a statement.

The incident happened on Sunday morning around 2 a.m., State Police said. Delta Airlines diverted the plane and returned it to the gate in Logan after Cherlius allegedly urinated on the passenger, the statement said.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel,” a Delta spokesperson told Boston.com.

Once the plane reached the gate, State Police troopers and Border Patrol agents boarded the plane, State Police said. They told Cherilus to leave the plane, but he became “irate and uncooperative,” according to State Police. Police then took Cherilus off the plane and arrested him for disorderly conduct and disturbing a flight crew.

The maximum punishment for disorderly conduct is a $150 fine. However, disturbing a flight crew is a felony charge and carries up to 20 years in prison. He will be arraigned on Monday in East Boston District Court, authorities said.
