Travelers seeking popular fall foliage destinations across New England this season can take a page from HomeToGo users, who are eyeing Boston, Rockport, and Greenville, Maine.

The vacation rental search engine recently released its HomeToGo 2024 fall travel forecast and Boston ranked No. 10 among the top trending big city destinations this fall. What’s more, Rockport, Mass. ranked No. 7 and Greenville, Maine ranked No. 10 among the top trending cities and small towns this fall.

The rankings are based on searches on HomeToGo from Jan. 1 to July 31 with a check-in date between Sept. 22 and Dec. 21, in comparison to the same dates in 2023.

Destinations in North Carolina took the No. 1 spot on both lists — Asheville for big cities and Nags Head for small cities and towns. Asheville saw a 357 percent search increase while Nags Head saw a 273 percent search increase from last year.

Boston saw a 31 percent search increase over last year, according to HomeToGo, while Rockport saw a 42 percent search increase and Greenville saw a 32 percent search increase.

In Asheville, travelers can enjoy “art galleries, craft breweries, and farm-to-table dining, all set against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which glow with fall colors,” wrote HomeToGo, while in Nags Head, “the cooler temperatures are ideal for exploring historic lighthouses, strolling along expansive beaches, and walking through the nearby natural preserves.”
