Two games into the Bill O’Brien era at Boston College, the Eagles have already earned a spot in the Associated Press top 25 poll.

Following an upset win over then-No. 10 Florida State on Monday, and a 56-0 thrashing of Duquesne on Saturday, BC is ranked No. 24 in the nation.

It’s the first time the Eagles (2-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) have been ranked in the AP poll since 2018, when they reached as high as No. 17 – and just the second time since 2009.

The Week 3 ranking is also the earliest for the Eagles since they appeared in the preseason AP and Coaches top-25 polls at No. 22 before the start of the 2005 season.

Nationally, Boston College ranks seventh in rushing defense (40.5) and ninth in rushing offense (282.5). The Eagles are 10th in scoring defense (6.5) and 23rd in scoring offense (42.0). BC is also first in the nation in team passing efficiency (245.83).

Next up for Boston College is a clash at No. 6 Missouri (2-0) this Saturday at 12:45 p.m. The matchup is the only one between two ranked teams that day.

If the Eagles are able to pull off another upset, they’ll likely vault into the top 15 for the first time since 2007 – when Matt Ryan led BC to as high as No. 2.
