Among the nation’s can’t-miss getaways is an experience in Maine that deserves bucket list status, according to Conde Nast Traveler.

The travel publication recently released a list of 10 trips in the United States everyone should add to their bucket list. The picks are places CNT editors have experienced or want to experience in their lifetimes and camping in Acadia National Park made the cut.

Associate editor Hannah Towey described her time in the park during a New England road trip with a friend a few years back.

“We spent the long weekend hiking through the park’s trails with stunning views of the water and mountains, picnicking at a lighthouse, swimming in the clear ocean waves (it’s as cold as they say), and, of course, eating many variations of lobster in Bar Harbor,” wrote Towey.

reserving an Acadia camping spot months in advance because it books up fairly quickly. She noted that the best time to go is during the warm summer months or during the fall for leaf peeping.

“I’d recommend combining Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine for a quintessential New England road trip,” Towey wrote.

Other bucket list destinations on the list include hot air ballooning in New Mexico, following a bluegrass trail in Virginia, and horseback riding in Wyoming.
