When firefighters arrived at Station 1 in Brockton on Monday morning, they were met with an unexpected surprise.

Officials said they heard “screeching” coming from the backyard.

After a short investigation, the firefighters discovered that a raccoon had climbed into a traffic pole, according to the Brockton Fire Department.

    And it was stuck inside.

Firefighters called animal control to rescue the animal.

“After cutting the pole, with the little help of soap and water, the raccoon was free to go,” the department said.

The raccoon was relocated to a “better part of the city,” officials said.
