We all know that October is the season of Stephen King. The Maine writer has dominated the horror genre since he debuted with “Carrie” in 1974.

In the decades since, he’s gone on to write more than 60 novels and novellas. Not to mention the dozens of film and TV adaptions inspired by his work, including Max’s “Salem’s Lot” which just released this month.

We want to know: Which of King’s novels is the most iconic?

In Boston.com’s reader recommended round up of horror books, you chose “Cujo,” “It,” “Salem’s Lot,” and “The Shining” as some of the scariest books you’ve ever read. Now we want to know, which one is the best?

This month, we’re creating a Stephen King bracket to pick the best book written by the prolific author. Using your responses to the poll below, we’ll determine a top sixteen, and you’ll get the chance to narrow down the list until a winner is crowned.

Drop your recommendation in the poll below, and it may be chosen as part of the bracket.
