The upcoming November election marks the first presidential election since COVID, and as was the case during the pandemic, voters will still be able to vote early before Election Day.

Voters in Massachusetts can cast a ballot in the 2024 election starting Saturday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Nov. 1.

Massachusetts residents planning to vote early can find locations and times on the secretary of state’s website.

In Massachusetts, voters are allowed to vote early in all statewide elections and do not need an excuse to cast a ballot early. They can vote in person or by mail.

    Vote by mail

Vote-by-mail ballot applications must reach the voter’s local election office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Voters can return their ballot by mailing it back using the provided envelope, hand-delivering it to their local election office, dropping it off at an early voting location during voting hours, or using a ballot drop box.

    Registering

If you still haven’t, voters’ deadline to register and update their correct address on file is Saturday, Oct. 26, according to the secretary of state’s office.

Massachusetts voters can register and check their registration at RegisterToVoteMA.com and can track their ballot at VoteInMA.com.

    State of the race

With the election just over two weeks away — a tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump — Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz and President Joe Biden are scheduled to make appearances in New England over the next several days.

Biden is traveling to New Hampshire on Tuesday for an “official event,” The Boston Globe reported.

Walz is returning to Boston for a fundraising event on Sunday, the day after early voting begins.

Walz will arrive at Logan Airport at 4 p.m. and will speak at a campaign reception in Boston 45 minutes later on behalf of the Harris Victory Fund.

The campaign did not disclose where the event will take place.
