Wiregrass Tech receives $1 million from Lowe’s Foundation for skilled trades workforce development
The Lowe’s Foundation awarded $1 million to Wiregrass Georgia Technical College as a part of a select group of community and technical colleges receiving Gable Grants. Since awarding its first grants one year ago, the foundation has expanded skilled trades career pathways through its growing network of 35 community colleges and nonprofits in rural and urban communities across 27 states.

Local Conn’s, Badcock stores closing due to bankruptcy
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A home goods, furniture and appliance retailer is shutting some stores, including one in Grovetown and one in Augusta, after filing for bankruptcy. Conn’s HomePlus filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last Tuesday and announced it will close around half of its 170 stores, including one in Augusta at 596 Bobby Jones Expressway.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - After many years of service, the A.G.I.R.L.S Dance Team will no longer be operating in the community. Founded in 2012, A.G.I.R.L.S. was an all-girls majorette dance team that competed in local and regional competitions and held an undefeated record for months. The team has won at least 200 trophies while being featured on Lifetime’s hit show, “Bring It” winning against the renowned Dancing Dolls.
