Celtics legend hilariously mocks Lakers after NBA title win

With NBA championship No. 18 officially in the books , the Celtics faithful have earned their bragging rights to mock the Lakers, and it's not just the fans getting into the act.

After Joe Mazzulla's team completed the mission on Monday, Celtics great Cedric Maxwell seized the opportunity to poke fun at former Lakers players against whom he endured many playoff battles in the 1980s.

"Bye-bye, Lakers. Bye-bye, Fakers," Maxwell told Rachel Nichols outside the Celtics locker room at TD Garden.

The 1981 NBA Finals MVP then proceeded to mock James Worthy, Michael Cooper and other Showtime Lakers with nostalgic "good night" messages that C's fans would utter at Lakers in the 1980s.

Maxwell then praised Celtics front-office head Brad Stevens for setting up the franchise for a potential dynasty in the coming years.

"They're not through [winning titles] by a long shot," Maxwell said of Mazzulla's Celtics.

Meanwhile, Magic Johnson couldn't hide his disappointment at the Celtics surpassing the Lakers.

To rub more salt in the Lakers' wounds, many fans pointed out how the Purple and Gold passed up an opportunity to draft Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum — the two players who guided the Celtics to their 18th NBA championship.

In 2016, the Lakers drafted Brandon Ingram over Brown before picking Lonzo Ball over Tatum the following year.
