Since he is Boston's star player, Jayson Tatum faces constant criticism, including comparisons to his running mate Jaylen Brown . However, with victory in the 2024 NBA Finals, the 26-year-old is now a proven winner, which should be enough to silence his doubters.

"Oh my god, it's a surreal feeling. We did it. First of all, God is the greatest. Not 'cause we won, but to put me in positions to maximize my God-given ability, to surround me with these guys, my family, this is an incredible feeling," Tatum said in his post-game interview after winning Game 5. "We responded all year; it's been a long journey. We have a resilient group; we have been through a lot as a team… What are they gonna say now?"

    Tatum has faced unwarranted criticism

Despite being an excellent player since he entered the league in 2017, Tatum has received unfair criticism. However, the constant comparisons between him and JB have annoyed most of the Celtics community even more.

There has never been any animosity between the two stars, and they always wanted each other to succeed—Jrue Holiday even went as far as to say that the partnership between the Jays is sacred . Fortunately for JT and JB, they now have an NBA title and are certified as a successful duo, so the criticism about them should die down slowly.

Away from his play on the court, some people have criticized Tatum for having a "corny" personality, leading people on social media to spew hateful words about him. That is not what Jayson is about, as he wants to play basketball, raise his son well, and make his heroes like Kobe Bryant proud .

    Boston is seeking more success

The Celtics won their first championship in over a decade and are now the winningest organization in the league's history with 18 titles. However, they are not done yet.

Tatum and Brown are committed to long-term contracts, and their success looks sustainable. With players like Jrue, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis on the roster, the C's could run it back in the 2024/25 season.

Of course, they will have lofty competition, including their rivals, the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks, who will be on a revenge tour in the upcoming campaign. But if the NBA community learned anything from this campaign—it's not smart to underestimate Boston.
