BROADCASTER Kendrick Perkins has not held back after a Boston Celtics announcer claimed he wasn’t welcome at the team’s recent parade.

Former Celtics star Perkins, 39, was conspicuous in his absence from the team’s championship parade in Boston.

One of the duck boats participating in celebrations featured Perkins’ 2008 championship-winning teammates Paul Pierce, Eddie House, Brian Scalabrine, and Leon Powe.

Asked about Perkins’ absence, Scalabrine claimed on his Sirius XM show The Starting Lineup that Perkins, who isn’t afraid to hold back in his criticism of the Celtics, has a “big scarlet letter” over his name in the area, via Boston.com .

“It’s not really an open-arms thing with Kendrick Perkins,” he claimed.

Not afraid to speak his mind, Perkins has since fired back.

“Right now I feel like Scal is a coward,” Perkins told 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Felger & Mazz .

He called Scalabrine out for allegedly not calling him back, something Perkins felt he was owed after his former teammate’s decision to speak publicly.

“Was I the only 2008 member missing from the duck boat? No, I wasn’t,” Perkins added.

“House, my guy, he was there. Leon Powe, great friend of mine as well, he was there.

“Scal was there and Paul was there. There was still 11 other guys missing.

“And to be honest with you, if I would’ve gotten an invite, which I didn’t – I didn’t know we was supposed to – but anyways, nine times out of 10, I would’ve turned it down.”

Perkins explained that this would not have been driven by any lack of love for Boston, but rather because he didn’t want to take away from the current team’s “moment.”

“That’s not our moment. That’s 2024’s moment,” he said.

“Let those guys have their moment.”

What’s more, Perkins also wanted to highlight the fact that he no longer visits any of his former teams – not just Boston.

What the new TV deal means for the NBA?

By The U.S. Sun's Assistant Sports Editor Damian Burchardt.

THE new TV rights deal is promising to be a humongous win for NBA players.

The league is set to more than double the revenue coming from its media partners, pocketing about $6.9 billion per year, which will inevitably lead to a huge salary cap spike in 2025-26.

That is going to send the value of player contracts skyrocketing.

Projected figures suggest we might see the first $100 million-per-year deal being signed soon.

Currently, Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown is projected to earn the highest single-season salary in NBA history, collecting $65.1 million in 2028-29.

It does feel like basketball fans would be on the losing side of the fight if the NBA and TNT indeed parted ways, though.

Inside the NBA is a one-of-a-kind sports entertainment show , as evidenced by ESPN’s ongoing failure to come up with its own version of the program in recent years.

The NBA won’t be the same without Kenny and Ernie trying to make sense of Shaq and Chuck’s never-ending bickering every Tuesday night.

“I put the basketball phase of life behind me,” he claimed, adding that he has received invites from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder in the past.

And with regards to the Celtics’ open-door policy for new players supposedly not applying to him, Perkins said, “I never went knocking at the doors.

“I never pulled up to the house, so how can it be closed?”

Scalabrine has yet to respond to Perkins’ latest comments.
