Linus Ullmark Sounds Depressed After The Bruins Traded Him

It’s hard not to feel bad for Linus Ullmark. Well, some of this is his fault for not having the Senators, a team with heavy Canadian taxes, on his no-move list.

That error in judgment has made Ullmark go in a downward spiral. The former Bruins netminder admits that he cried after Boston traded him and now he just feels empty.

“There were a lot of tears,” Ullmark said , describing his initial phone call with Swayman following the trade on an episode of the “What Chaos!” podcast. “… It was a feeling of emptiness and a sense of, ‘OK, this is it. This is the end of what we’ve built throughout the three years.’”

Despite it being super obvious that he doesn’t want to be in Ottawa, Ullmark did his best to try to lie and claim the new opportunity was a good one.

“I’m very much looking forward to the new opportunity that I get to have in Ottawa,” Ullmark said. “… If I didn’t get to feel the sadness (of the trade) then I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed my stay in Boston, so now that I actually have these feelings inside of me once I got traded — it just goes to show how much I loved being a Boston Bruin.”

For the record, this trade stinks for the Bruins. I have no idea why they even wanted to pull this trade off. Was gaining $2 million in cap space really worth adding the 25th pick in the NHL Draft to significantly downgrade? It will never make sense but Don Sweeney is an idiot so let’s not even try to analyze what that dope was thinking.
