Theater goers can once again save money on last-minute tickets for performances taking place across the city by visiting a booth in Faneuil Hall.

ArtsBoston’s BosTix booth, which sells day-of, in-person discounted theater tickets, is reopening at Faneuil Hall on July 10. The booth, located on Faneuil Hall Square just off Congress Street, closed in 2020 due to the pandemic.

In celebration of the booth’s return, the not-for-profit ArtsBoston has partnered with Emerson Colonial Theatre for a deal on the Broadway-bound musical “The Queen of Versailles,” starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth and Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham. The show runs from July 16 to August 25.

Theater goers can snag 400 orchestra seat tickets to “The Queen of Versailles” for $49 (plus $9 in fees) for all performances except on Aug. 1. The tickets must be purchased at the booth, there’s a limit of six tickets per buyer, and customers must pay with credit or a debit card. The tickets will be sold until July 13, or when they sell out.

“The total cost of $58 represents a significant savings off prices that range from $159-$179,” according to a press release.

The revenue from the discounted tickets is reinvested into the local arts community.

“We know the way people buy tickets has changed drastically in 50 years,” said Catherine Peterson, executive director of ArtsBoston, in a statement. “But what hasn’t changed is the desire for interesting and unique live experiences. People today are being more spontaneous, making last-minute plans and looking for fun with family and friends. With a real live expert in the BosTix booth four days a week this summer, we will help residents find fun and affordable experiences for tonight or this week, and help visitors make the most of their time in Boston.”

The ticket booth, established in 1978, was the second of its kind in America. It was modeled after New York City’s TKTS booth in Times Square. The reopening will bring pop-up performances and interactive arts experiences as well, according to the release.

Faneuil Hall booth summer hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays through Saturdays from July 10 to Aug 31.

ArtsBoston’s other BosTix booth, located in the Copley Square area, will reopen in December, according to Peterson.
