    Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum.

Jayson Tatum is a top-10 player in the NBA. He is a five-time All-Star and a three-time All-NBA First Team selection and recently led the Boston Celtics to their first championship in 16 years. However, Tatum's style of play has earned some criticism.

Throughout his tenure in the NBA, Tatum has been an elite scorer. He thrives as a high-usage shot-maker and has enhanced his overall skillset to make him a fearsome three-level scorer. Yet, this past season, Tatum embraced a more all-around role as he looked to help get the best out of Boston's star-studded roster. The results speak for themselves. Unfortunately for Tatum, this didn't draw the praise it deserved from the fans and media alike.

During a recent appearance on "The Old Man & The Three" podcast, Tatum revealed that one of Team USA's coaches praised his new technique and credited him with finding different ways to impact a game.

“Won't say his name, one of the coaches came up to me and said that him and a lot of other coaches watched throughout the playoffs and were so impressed by my willingness to dominate in all areas,” Tatum said. “On the nights that I wouldn't have great shooting nights, could I get 14 rebounds? Could I get assists? Could I guard the big man? And to see my growth from early in my career...To hear him come and tell me that, it meant a lot.”

Tatum's adaptability to a new "brand" showcased his deep and impressive skillset. While his scoring numbers slightly dipped, his rebounding and playmaking both improved. Once he fixes his three-point struggles, he will be a top-five talent. Tatum has proven he is more than just a scorer.

As such, his presence within Boston's roster is a significant reason why they're expected to compete for multiple championships in the coming years. At just 26 years old, Tatum is still a year or two away from reaching his "prime." He will be a force of nature for the next half-decade, if not more.

After being overlooked by the media this season, Tatum will likely be pleased to receive some praise from coaches outside Boston's championship run. It will prove that his approach is right and conducive to further success. Eventually, everyone else will come around and realize that Tatum hasn't just adapted. He's become dominant.
