As of the All-Star Break, the Boston Red Sox are 53-42, third in the AL East and four and half games behind first in the division. With the trade deadline approaching, the Sox need to focus on bolstering their major weakness: Pitching. Here are some pitchers the Sox should target to help them.

Max Fried, Atlanta Braves: Fried has been doing well this season, posting a 7-5 record this season with 3.08 ERA. Fried’s contract ends after this season, so he could be a good mercenary to help us this season. It may be tough to get him since the Braves are battling to make the playoffs as well.

Tanner Scott, Miami Marlins: Scott had a breakout season this year as a reliever, punching 104 tickets this season, trailing only Felix Bautista and Matt Brash who are the leaders among relievers. Striking out 33% of batters faced and walking only 8%, Scott would be a great pickup to bolster the bullpen, and would be easy to get from the Marlins.

Nathan Eovaldi, Texas Rangers: A former Sox himself, Eovaldi is having a good year, posting a 2.97 ERA and a 6-3 record, Eovaldi could have a homecoming to help the Sox win. The Rangers are not having a great season as of now, so it may not be a stretch to get him.
