Should Red Sox consider reuniting with recently released starter?

Former Red Sox pitcher James Paxton was just DFA’d by the LA Dodgers today. The lefty this season has a 4.43 ERA, a record of 8-2, and 64 strikeouts. His last start was against the Red Sox yesterday, where he put on a clinic, pitching five innings and only giving up three runs while striking out seven.

During his time with the Sox, Paxton did okay, having a 4.5 ERA with a record of 7-5, and 101 strikeouts. This is honestly fine, as if the Red Sox elect to pick him up, he would not be expected to be an ace, but to fill the final starting hole left by Garrett Whitlock being injured. As long as the offense performs normally, Paxton will do great.

With Paxton also being a lefty arm, he would provide something the starters for the Sox need in a roster full of righties.
