    Red Sox sticking with 29-year-old rookie in lineup for series opener vs. Yankees

    After losing two out of three to the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, the Boston Red Sox have returned to Fenway Park for a three-game series with the New York Yankees, starting on Friday.

    For the matchup, Boston will send Brayan Bello to the mound while New York will counter with Nestor Cortes.

    Here's what Alex Cora's lineup looks like for the opener:

    Bello has been bad for Boston this season, posting a 5.27 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP while striking out 92 batters in 18 games. He gave up five runs (four earned) over 4 2/3 innings in his first outing against New York this year. He's allowed hits to eight Yankees in his career - Oswaldo Cabrera (2-for-13), J.D. Davis (1-for-3), Aaron Judge (2-for-9 with three walks), DJ Lemahieu (2-for-6 with an RBI), Juan Soto (1-for-3), Gleyber Torres (6-for-16 with an RBI and a walk), Alex Verdugo (2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs) and Anthony Volpe (3-for-8).

    Cortes has been all right for New York, posting a 3.99 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP while striking out 111 batters over 21 starts. He allowed just one run over six innings in his last outing against Boston. He's surrendered hits to five Red Sox in his career - Devers (3-for-14 with two home runs, five RBIs and a walk), Duran (1-for-4), Gonzalez (2-for-2 with a solo home run), Refsnyder (6-for-13) and Wong (1-for-6 with an RBI).
