Red Sox reportedly interested in trading for Angels reliever

The Boston Red Sox have already made a few moves ahead of the MLB trade deadline, acquiring starting pitcher James Paxton from the Los Angeles Dodgers and catcher Danny Jansen from the Toronto Blue Jays.

However, they might not be done.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman , the Red Sox are still looking to add arms, and Los Angeles Angels right-handed pitcher Luis Garcia.

Garica, 37, was originally signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2004. He debuted with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013 and pitched with the team until 2018. Since then, he's bounced around to the Angels (2019), Texas Rangers (2020), St. Louis Cardinals (2021), San Diego Padres (2022-23) and back to the Angels this year.

In 2024, Garcia has appeared in 44 games, tossing 42 2/3 innings and posting a 3.80 ERA and a 1.195 WHIP while striking out 40 batters.

Boston's bullpen has had a ton of usage recently, and they're missing two big pieces with Chris Martin and Justin Slaten on the injured list. Adding Garcia to the group could help the team make a postseason run this year.
