BOSTON — A drunken bar fight broke out between the Yankees and Red Sox on Saturday night at Fenway Park.

And just when it looked like the Yankees had taken one too many stools over the head courtesy of their pitching staff and some sloppy play, they caught a third wind to avoid a fourth straight loss.

Down to their last strike in the ninth inning, the Yankees got a game-tying double from Trent Grisham and then put up a three-spot in the top of the 10th, which was finally enough to stave off the Red Sox for an 11-8 win.

“We’re fighting for our lives right now,” manager Aaron Boone said at the end of a long day that included acquiring Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Marlins to boost their lineup. “Tonight got turned upside down pretty early and you’re trying to piece it together. A number of guys in the pen stepped up, a couple guys struggled, but everyone just kept picking it up.”

For most of the night, a shutdown inning was a foreign concept for the Yankees (61-45).

In each of the first four innings they scored, their pitchers immediately pulled the chair out from underneath them in the bottom of the inning.

But they finally got clean innings late from Tommy Kahnle (eighth) and Clay Holmes (ninth and 10th) to capture the win that seemed elusive for much of the night on the heels of a crushing 9-7 loss to the Red Sox (55-48) on Friday night.

“That’s what this team’s about,” said Aaron Judge, who went 4-for-4 with a pair of walks, two doubles, a home run and three RBIs while reaching base a career-high six times. “You’re going to have some tough moments and go through some tough losses, but we came out with the win today. … These are the games you want to play in, back-and-forth. I don’t think the pitchers like it too much, but as hitters, you love that back-and-forth. It’s a lot of fun.”

After Juan Soto had blown through a stop sign at third base to get thrown out easily at the plate as the potential tying run in the eighth, the Yankees found a way to tie it off Kenley Jansen in the ninth.

Ben Rice doubled off the center-field wall with one out and pinch-runner Jahmai Jones came around to score the tying run on Grisham’s two-out double off the Green Monster.

Holmes, who helped blow a three-run lead Friday night, was much sharper Saturday and tossed a quick bottom of the ninth to send the game to extras.

Red Sox nearly had a catch-of-the year contender — before it landed for Yankees homer

Soto singled and Judge walked to load the bases with one out for Austin Wells, who hit a sacrifice fly that put the Yankees up 9-8.

Gleyber Torres then ripped a double to the gap that plated both Soto and Judge to make it an 11-8 game.

“I got a huge opportunity to do something tonight and I tried to [keep it] simple in that situation,” said Torres, who has started to look more like himself at the plate over the last few weeks.

Holmes came back out for the bottom of the 10th and shut the Red Sox down again for his first six-out appearance of the season.

Taking the field roughly 25 minutes after their trade for Chisholm became official, the Yankees raced off to a quick 3-0 lead on back-to-back homers from Soto and Judge.

But the rest of the night only exposed the Yankees’ bigger need ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline: pitching.

Marcus Stroman turned in his shortest outing of the year, lasting just 3 ¹/₃ innings.

He got tagged for nine hits and gave up five runs, though only three of them were earned because of an Anthony Volpe fielding error.

Stroman quickly flushed that 3-0 lead, with the Red Sox tying it in the bottom of the first.

And after the Yankees went back up 4-3 in the top of the second on Oswaldo Cabrera’s homer , Stroman gave up two more runs in the bottom of the frame.

The Yankees clawed back to tie the game 5-5 and 6-6 before the Red Sox went ahead 8-6 against Michael Tonkin in the seventh.

But just before it was too late, the Yankees found a way to come out on top and win for just the 11th time in their last 34 games.

“That room is playing for a lot, you can feel it,” Boone said. “Nothing’s been easy, of course. We know we got to keep getting better and moving the needle and racking up wins. But we’re fighting for a lot and it’s fun to see these guys laying it on the line.”
