Team USA got off to a great start in the 2024 Summer Olympics, beating Nikola Jokic and Team Serbia 110-84 in the opener on Sunday afternoon.

Kevin Durant and LeBron James led the way, combining for 44 points on 17-for-22 shooting. Durant was the leader in the first half with 21 points on a perfect 8-for-8 shooting, while LeBron dominated in the second half, scoring nine of his 21 points after the break.

However, it was who didn't play that became more of a story rather than who did play.

Boston Celtics star and recent NBA Finals Champion Jayson Tatum was a DNP Coaches Decision in the Olympic opener, leading to a lot of questions on social media.

Tatum, who is arguably the biggest star on the best team in the NBA, had to sit back and watch as the rest of his team went on to dominate on Sunday. This decision by Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr — who decided to play Tatum's Boston teammate Derrick White in the game — is being questioned by fans.

Of course, it was only one game, so it's not a big enough sample size just yet to say that Tatum won't be a meaningful contributor to this roster. But so far, it doesn't look like he will have as big of a role as some might have thought going into the Olympics.
