"I've been a VP since I was 21 years old" - Jaylen Brown claps back at Grant Hill for implying he is a conspiracy theorist

With the basketball at the 2024 Olympics underway, many people around the world are anticipating whether Team USA can win the gold against a stacked competition. Meanwhile, some people still can't get over the fact that Jaylen Brown should be on the roster.

Grant Hill explained that choosing Derrick White was "truly a basketball decision" and that he loves a good conspiracy theory . However, Brown took that as Hill describing him as a conspiracy theorist. So, the 2024 Finals MVP did what he thought he needed to do by calling out the USAB managing director on X (formerly Twitter).

    Vice president of NBPA

The Boston Celtics star thought he had to point out that he has served as VP of the National Basketball Players Association since 2019. It seems JB is hellbent on defending his name and making sure that people know his non-inclusion on the U.S. men's national basketball squad was a Nike decision.

To Hill's defense, he never actually referred to Brown as a conspiracy theorist. However, some folks might also point out that Kyrie Irving, a known Nike nemesis, didn't make the cut, while Tyrese Haliburton, who has been out of the rotation for a while now, did.

It's unclear how long the drama will last, although Brown should probably focus on preparing for the Celtics' title defense next season and his job as vice president of the NBPA. He also might want to cheer for his compatriots, especially because it features three of his Boston teammates: Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White.

    Tatum DNP vs. Serbia

Perhaps it would have really been best for the three-time All-Star to have sat out the Americans' pursuit of the gold medal in the Paris Games. It's worth noting that Tatum didn't see action during Team USA's opener against Serbia. Coach Steve Kerr attributed the decision to trying out lineup combinations that made sense during the contest.

Still, with the Red, White, and Blue blowing the Serbs out 110-84, JT could have seen some run even in garbage time. The consolation for the three-time All-NBA First Team member is that he wasn't the sole player to ride the bench the entire game, as Haliburton also played zero minutes.

What if it was Brown in either Tatum's or Hali's place? Could he have handled it professionally? Maybe so. But Hill likely didn't want to risk ruining the team chemistry by having to talk a star of his caliber into accepting the possibility that he could be a benchwarmer.
