The Boston Red Sox have had one of the worst bullpens in baseball over the last month, and with the trade deadline coming on Wednesday, they should be trying to add arms.

On Monday, The Athletic's Jim Bowden reported that the Red Sox are among the teams "leading the mix" with interest in trading for Miami Marlins closer Tanner Scott.

Scott, 30, was a sixth-round pick of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2014 MLB draft and debuted with them in 2017. He was traded, along with Cole Sulser, to the Marlins for prospects in 2022.

The 30-year-old has posted a 1.18 ERA (3.24 FIP) and a 1.007 WHIP while striking out 53  batters in 45 2/3 innings over 44 appearances. He was named an All-Star for the first time this year.

Scott would be just a rental for this season, making the trade a bit more difficult, considering Miami would probably be asking for a solid return.

However, if Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow believes in his team, this might be a move he considers pulling the trigger on.
