The Boston Red Sox have already added a number of pitchers to both their rotation and bullpen in recent days.

Now, according to The Athletic's Jon Heyman , the Red Sox are adding another, as they've completed a trade with the Los Angeles Angels at the deadline for Luis Garcia.

Garcia, 37, signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers back in 2004 and made his major league debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013. Since 2019, he's played for the Angels, Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres.

In 44 games this year, Garcia has tossed 42 2/3 innings and posted a 3.80 ERA and a 1.195 WHIP while striking out 40 batters.

Boston's bullpen has been overtaxed and injured in recent weeks, so this move, in combination with the others made before the deadline, so help Alex Cora's team make a postseason push.
