"The Boston Celtics are built for the future" - Kevin Garnett sees multiple championships in the Celtics' future

The Boston Celtics are less than two months removed from capturing record title number 18, but Celtics legend Kevin Garnett is already thinking about how many championships this group could win together.

Boston put together a historic season en route to their title, and unlike other championship rosters, they had the ability to keep their core together this offseason. As key personnel put pen to paper, KG started fantasizing about the possibilities of more silverware in their future.

Making an appearance on the "Stephen A. Smith Show," Garnett explained why the Celtics are built for long-term success.

"I actually think the Boston Celtics are built for the future. They are built for the next three to four years. They have real pieces, all the pieces they have, they have the potential to where I feel like they can actually go one, two, three, four. They have it. When I look at all the young teams in the league no one has this body of experience from their young guys like this Boston team. It's Boston's to lose; it's the Celtics to lose, that's it," he said.

    The Fab Five

To their credit, the Celtics built the foundation of their core through the draft with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but they did need the finishing touches of trading for Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick White to round out their top five stars.

In doing so, they created the most versatile and devastating lineup in the league, which breezed through the Eastern Conference in both the regular season and playoffs and made light work of the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

To Garnett's point, perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of it all is that this group isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and it looks as though the rest of the league may be at their mercy if the forecast reads true.

To make matters worse for everyone else, one could make an argument that both Brown and Tatum are yet to reach the apex of their prime, and the group is yet to reach their pinnacle together given it was the inaugural season they shared a locker room.

    What does history say?

Predicting how good the Celtics can be long-term is one thing, but analyzing what the history of the league has shown us is another thing completely.

Unfortunately for Boston fans, history hasn't been kind to elite rosters when pertaining to sustained success, and it's even worse when you look at the modern league landscape. Outside of the Golden State Warriors with Kevin Durant, there hasn't been a back-to-back winner since the Miami Heat a decade ago.

The reason why the Warriors with KD is the exception is because that team has been labeled by a large majority of fans and analysts as the greatest collection of individual talent we have ever seen. And even the Warriors couldn't sustain championship success for three years in a row with that roster.

When dissecting the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, player movement, injuries, and a little bit of luck, history tells us we may need to slow our row on Garnett's prediction of multiple rings in the Celtics' future.
