He's an Olympic medalist in both short-track speed skating and baseball. His roll will be for speed as a pinch runner going down the stretch as was Pablo Reyes' role. It's also to give the Mets an infield lefty bat in McNeil's place. I gather the Mets are hoping Reyes clears waivers and accepts the assignment to Syracuse, because he would have postseason eligibility with the Mets whereas Eddy Alvarez wouldn't.
