Crown Royal announced on Tuesday the release of a ready-to-drink cocktail: The Crown Royal Whisky Sour Cocktail with Black Cherry. The Canadian whisky brand known for distinctive flavors like Crown Royal Blackberry is releasing the drink as part of a partnership with football's "leading ladies" — the Wives and Girlfriends, commonly referred to as WAGs. Crown Royal dropped the latest ready-to-drink cocktail with football season just around the corner. Crown Royal tapped Sydney Warner, the wife of the San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner. Crown Royal says this partnership will bring some "sophistication" to football season, as the demographics behind the popular
    sport's fans are changing .
"Game days are our time to raise a glass, support our favorite teams and enjoy every moment," Sydney Warner said in a news release . "Cocktails are a must-have for our celebrations, and The Cocktail Collection makes it so easy to serve up something impressive and delicious. Whether we're at the stadium or hosting at our home, the Crown Royal Whisky Sour Cocktail with Black Cherry adds that perfect touch of flavor and fun to our game-day traditions!"

The canned cocktail is created with Canadian whisky, lemon juice and "natural black cherry flavors," according to the brand. The drink is available in 350-milliliter bottles, which host a suggested retail price of $13.99, and 750-milliliter bottles, priced at $25.99. According to Crown, one 750-milliliter bottle yields four to eight cocktails, and each bottle hosts an ABV of 20%. Those interested in purchasing the newest Crown Royal offerings can visit ReserveBar here . The Crown Royal Whisky Sour Cocktail with Black Cherry is the seventh release in Diageo's The Cocktail Collection, joining RTDs from Bulleit, Ketel One, Tanqueray and Astral. Crown Royal shared that as part of the collaboration, it's joining forces with three media outlets — Vox's SB Nation, PS and The Cut — to unveil a content series called "Her Playbook." The aim is to introduce new demographics to football, and WAGs will be educating viewers on the rules of the game.
"This growth reflects the strength of our world-class spirits," Diageo Brand Director Nikhil Shah said in a statement. "This product line addresses the problem of people being intimidated to make cocktails head-on — especially when they're hosting for special occasions... such as Sunday football or dinner parties. We've always aimed to allow people more time with their guests vs. being stuck mixing up drinks for the entire gathering. With each of our offerings, all you have to do is open, pour and serve your way to a delicious high-quality cocktail."

The Taylor Swift Effect? Understanding the NFL Viewing Demographics Shift

Football fans look a little bit different these days. Zeta reported that 46% of fans are women and girls 8 and older. The outlet claimed the NFL experienced a "significant increase in female viewership" in 2024. KSBY News reported in
February that musical icon Taylor Swift is highly likely to be responsible for that. The outlet reported that almost two-thirds of Gen Z and Millennial women have "a favorable view of the NFL." Between July and December of 2023, female support jumped 11%. So what was the reason for the surge? The news organization reported that the jump in viewership matched Swift appearing at NFL games as she kicked off a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Founder of the NFL Women's Forum and Senior Director at the NFL Sam Rapoport shared her thoughts on the matter:
"We're seeing so many more women who are now seeing representation of themselves on the sidelines. And that's usually what it takes for them to realize that this is for them too, and that they should shoot their shot."
