Freddie Noe of Booker’s Bourbon wanted to release a series of whiskeys that tasted just like barrels that the legendary Booker Noe would have picked out himself, and on Thursday the bourbon brand announced the dream became a reality with the launch of Booker’s Bourbon “The Reserves.”

“I created ‘The Reserves’ series to commemorate my grandaddy Booker,” 8th Generation Master Distiller Freddie Noe of Fred B. Noe Distillery expressed in a news release. “Liquid like this can take a while to find, but when I do, it feels like the Big Man himself picked them out. It’s just the kind of bourbon I believe my granddaddy would be making if he were still alive with us now.”

This marks the first innovation from Booker’s since 2019, according to the brand. The new, yearly limited-release series honors Freddie’s grandfather, Booker Noe and his legacy within the bourbon world.

The inaugural offering is a blend of 8 to 14-year bourbons that are uncut, unfiltered and cask-strength. Booker’s shared that because the barrels Freddie chose are rarer and older, The Reserves will be offered in even smaller quantities than Booker’s current releases.

The 2024 release features eight distinctive production dates with barrels sourced from eight warehouses. The bourbon is named after 6th Generation Master Distiller Booker Noe who was considered the founder of “small batch” bourbon. Freddie unveiled Booker’s Bourbon, an earlier series, to honor his grandfather. Booker’s releases are often critically acclaimed, like Booker’s 2022-04 Pinkie’s Batch, which we have reviewed here .

The inaugural “The Reserves” bourbon clocks in at 125.9 proof and hosts a suggested retail price of $129.99. Booker’s claims it possesses a nose with brown sugar and dried fruit. On the palate, the brand cites “complex rich vanilla” interlaced with a charred oak backbone. The finish lingers on, with baking spice.
