Milam & Greene Blended 49 Casks of Bourbon From 3 States for 3rd ‘Unabridged’ Release

On Tuesday, the Blanco, Texas-based whiskey brand, Milam & Greene, announced the release of the third volume of its "Unabridged" series of bourbons. Milam & Greene Unabridged Volume 3 is part of the brand's Blender's Reserve Collection, a group of limited-edition bourbons. Each Unabridged expression is bottled at cask strength and non-chill filtered — a nod to the meaning of "unabridged," which refers to a book that hasn't been edited.

“Customers love cask-strength whiskeys,” Milam & Greene Master Blender Heather Greene said in a news release. “They had been asking us for years to create one, and we answered by creating the Unabridged series. The trick was to do something full of flavor and personality while still retaining elegance. Judging from the reaction at this year’s Kentucky Bourbon Festival, we nailed it once again.”

For Unabridged Voume 3, Milam & Greene says its team blind-tasted various barrels and blends before deciding on the eventual formula, which is a blend of 49 barrels from three states. Fortunately for whiskey nerds, Milam & Greene is a highly transparent brand and provided a full breakdown:

• 15 casks: 3.5-year-old Kentucky bourbon made with malted rye
• 13 casks: 9-year-old Kentucky bourbon
• 7 casks: 6-year-old Kentucky bourbon
• 5 casks: 4-year-old Texas bourbon made with malted rye
• 5 casks: 4-year-old Tennessee bourbon
• 4 casks: 10-year-old Kentucky bourbon

Unabridged Volume 3 is available on the Milam & Greene website at a suggested retail price of $94.99 and will hit shelves at seleect fine retailers across the U.S. "soon," according to Milam & Greene. Milam & Greene bottled 1,554 six-pack cases for release.
