Onondaga County hit by 77 car thefts in one week, mostly by juveniles
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Seventy-seven vehicles were stolen in Onondaga County in the past week according to Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley. Following the stolen vehicle incident that took place in Clay earlier this week, Sheriff Shelley called the car thefts and smash-and-grabs in the Central New York region “flat out wrong.”
Flash flood warning for Oneida County early Thursday evening
A flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 3:18 p.m. in effect until 5:15 p.m. for Oneida County. "At 3:18 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a stationary thunderstorm producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen in a very short amount of time. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The hardest hit area is near and south of State Highway 294 between Boonville and West Leyden," says the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."
Motorcyclist injured in morning Marcy crash
MARCY — A motorcyclist was hospitalized after his bike went off the Marcy-SUNY Parkway early Thursday morning, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies said Charles Longwell, 43, of Mohawk, was northbound on the parkway at about 6:45 a.m. when he failed to maintain his lane on his 2004 Triumph motorcycle. Deputies said the bike went off the eastbound shoulder.

Rome woman accused of causing more than $6,000 in damage to vehicle
ROME — A 32-year-old woman is accused of causing more than $6,000 in damage to her estranged husband's pickup truck, according to the Rome Police Department. Police said Nikki L. Marriott, of Sherrill, went to her estranged husband's workplace on Ellsworth Road in Rome at about 10:11 a.m. Wednesday and damaged his 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck in the parking lot. Police said Marriott broke off both side mirrors and used them to beat multiple dents throughout the vehicle. Police said Marriott also used a hammer to damage the truck.
Woman charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident in Syracuse
Syracuse, N.Y. – A woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal car accident. Heniyah S. Williams, 22, is accused of hitting Shane Jackson, 35, on the 100 block of West Court Street with a grey 2006 Honda Pilot around 9:20 p.m. on July 5, according to a criminal complaint filed in Syracuse City Court.
