Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A couple charged in an extreme case of animal hoarding were sentenced on Tuesday.

Carolyn Luke and Timothy Miller were given a two-and-a-half-year suspended jail sentence with credit for 27 days already served. They will be released on house arrest under GPS monitoring.

The two were also fined $305 on each of the five counts and are expected to take 12 sessions of counseling.

Luke and Miller were pulled over in Boulder City on a tip that the pair were abusing animals. Police found in their possession numerous rabbits and guinea pigs, several of them deceased.

Further investigation led to similar discoveries at a northwest valley residence as well as a hotel room.

Part of the sentence also mandates that the couple cannot own any animals and must perform 48 hours of community service on each of the five counts they face.
