If there is anyone in sports who can relate to their sons being under unnecessary scrutiny because of how good they were during their career, it would be Colorado coach Deion Sanders.

The NFL Hall of Famer, who also shined on the baseball diamond, was one of the best athletes we had ever seen. After time as an analyst on television is trying his hand at coaching. He already had success at HBCU program Jackson State, and is now looking to turn around Colorado. Two of his star players happen to be his sons; quarterback Shedeur Sanders and safety Shilo Sanders.

While both sons are legitimately good players, with Shedeur being viewed as the possible first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Sanders has still been accused of playing "daddy ball."

A phrase that is essentially a branch off of the nepotism accusation tree, as Sanders has made it clear that he will do whatever it takes to ensure his sons are in a position to succeed. Something that we saw in a different sport recently, as LeBron James' oldest son, Bronny James, was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 55 overall pick.

A move that while it is historic since no father-son duo has ever taken the floor together in an NBA game, is one that many fans and analysts are furious about. The anger stems from the fact that during his lone season at USC, the younger James averaged under five points per game and struggled in about every aspect.

However, everyone is well aware that the Lakers drafted him as a favor to his father even if they say otherwise, as LeBron is one of the best to ever play. It pays to keep your stars happy. While fans are aware of this, they are still taking shots at the James family, something that Sanders spoke out against on social media on Wednesday after a fan mocked them with a video.

Sanders has always had critics, and even with this situation not about him, fans have joked that he will end up doing the same thing with his sons next year when they go to the NFL. There is a belief by many that Sanders will look to bolt to the NFL to coach his sons again, despite the fact he has already denied interest in doing so. Another major reason that Sanders can also relate to the situation.

A couple of months ago, Sanders offered some advice to Bronny while making an appearance on All the Smoke .

“I like Bronny James man. I went to the game when they played here. I felt bad for him because it's a lot on the shorty, and I could see the pressure, I can see it because I got boys man, and I can see it. When he steps out there they want to see the daddy. They ain't checking for Bronny. they want to see the daddy, and Bronny is coming. He may not get there as quick as his father arrived, but he's coming. And one thing about my kids, and you guys have done the same, I've seen this, I told my kids you don't have to be me man but I need you to be the best you,” said Sanders .

It has to be difficult to be the son of a legend due to the expectations that come with it, but it's important for Bronny or the Sanders kids to realize the critics will be there regardless. The younger James will make his NBA Summer League debut later this week.
