Year two of the Deion Sanders era at Colorado officially got underway on Monday when the Buffaloes opened fall camp with their first practice of the 2024 college football season. Coach Prime overhauled his roster during the offseason with the intention of getting stronger on the line of scrimmage and surrounding quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter with more explosive talent. After opening the season with a 3-0 record, which brought an unprecedented amount of national attention to the program, the Buffs closed out the season by going 1-8 to finish with a 4-8 overall record in Sanders' first year in Boulder.

Top Colorado Buffaloes practice storylines
The top priority for CU this past offseason was improving its offensive line after Shedeur Sanders was the most-sacked quarterback in the FBS in 2023. All five starters from the team's 2023 offensive line are no longer with the program, and Coach Prime hired former NFL offensive tackle Phil Loadholt to take over as the program's offensive line coach. Loadholt comes to CU after spending the past two seasons as an Offensive Analyst for Oklahoma .
Another priority for the Buffs this offseason was improving the team's rushing attack. The Buffs averaged just 68.9 yards per game and 2.31 yards per attempt in 2023, which ranked 130th in the country. Leading rushers Dylan Edwards and Anthony Hankerson both entered the Transfer Portal during the offseason and will be playing for new teams in 2024.
The Buffs' running back room is crowded and the top spot on the team's depth chart is up for grabs during fall camp. Former walk-on Charlie Offerdahl opened camp in the No. 1 spot on the depth chart, but he is facing stiff competition from transfers Dallan Hayden (Ohio State) and Isaiah Augustave (Arkansas), as well as true freshmen signees Micah Welch, who was with the program for Spring practice, and Brandon Hood.
