The 2024 Colorado Buffaloes season will be the second under Deion Sanders, but the first in the Big 12 since 2010. Coach Prime is looking to improve on a 4-8 season that started with three straight wins and a No. 18 ranking, but ended with the Buffs losing eight of their last nine. Familiar names like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are the featured attractions with Colorado football camp underway, but Buffs fans will want to get to know the new faces in town after the Colorado football roster had another massive overhaul and brought in over 50 new players.

The most touted among those is offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, the top-ranked player at his position in the Class of 2024. The five-star will be counted on to help fortify a line that was one of the weaknesses for Colorado in Coach Prime's first season. How quickly can the freshman rise up the Colorado football depth chart and make an immediate impact? Priority No. 1 for Coach Prime and his staff this offseason was getting better on the offensive line. In 2023, Shedeur Sanders was the most-sacked FBS quarterback, and the constant pounding caused him to miss the team's regular season finale against Utah. All five starters from Colorado's offensive line in 2023 either graduated or transferred, so there will be new faces in the team's OL room this fall.

Former NFL offensive tackle Phil Loadholt was hired to be the team's new offensive line coach, replacing Boll O'Boyle. Loadholt has been tasked with finding the right five players to form CU's starting offensive line and getting them to gel before the team's season-opener on August 29. The most notable name of the new players in the mix is true freshman Jordan Seaton, who was a five-star recruit and the third-highest rated player to ever sign with Colorado, according to 247Sports. Another priority for the Buffs this offseason was improving the team's rushing attack. With just 68.9 rushing yards per game in 2023, and only 2.3 yards per carry, the Buffs ranked dead last in all of college football in both categories. They then lost their top three running back to the transfer portal, including Dylan Edwards, who was a four-star. That left the team utilizing former walk-on Charlie Offerdahl as the first-team running back when camp began, despite him having all of two carries a year ago.

However, Coach Prime dipped into the portal himself, landing Dallan Hayden from Ohio State and Isaiah Augustave from Arkansas. They, along with freshman Micah Welch, are all battling Offerdahl for snaps. Colorado running backs coach Gary Harrell says the team plans to have two backs receive the bulk of carries this season, saying, "Our guys really compliment what [Offensive Coordinator Pat] Shurmur is trying to get done. The two best guys that can physically and mentally get things done is how we are going to find our true fit." Get the latest updates on the Colorado running back competition at BuffStampede .
