Mannel hired as ISU Extension regional director
Lori Mannel of Jefferson has accepted the position of regional director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach serving Carroll, Greene, Boone and Guthrie counties in central Iowa. As regional director, Mannel will provide administrative leadership to county extension office staff and guidance to county extension councils. Mannel was most recently the county director for ISU Extension and Outreach Greene County. Mannel earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from Buena Vista University, Storm Lake.

A Des Moines man was arrested and charged for stabbing a man at a hotel in Clive early Friday morning. ADM Baseball Looking Forward to Promising Future
Although the season ended earlier than the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball team would’ve liked, there is much to be stoked for going into next year. Head Coach Jason Book tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there will be no replacing the four seniors of Ben Greth, Sam Kock, Rhylan Stine-Smith, and Grant Rychnovsky, but is optimistic as the Tigers focus on the season ahead. Book is aware that there are holes on the roster that will need to be filled but anticipates the return of a core nucleus of players who gained experience this year, and believes that will help generate more cohesion to begin 2025.

Des Moines police officer seeking more than $250k to settle lawsuit against ousted council member
DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines police officer is asking a judge to settle a lawsuit he filed against former city council member Indira Sheumaker for more than $250,000. It stems from a moment KCCI captured on video from a local protest after Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd. You can see the altercation in the video above.
Panther Volleyball at ISU Camp
The Panorama Panthers participated in a two day camp at Iowa State in the Cyclone gyms. While not directly officiated with Iowa State University, the two day volleyball camp on July 24 & 25 includes a day of drills and practice alongside a day of scrimmages. The Cyclone Volleyball camp website says, “This camp is designed to give teams a head start to the volleyball season. This is strictly a competition camp with competitive drills vs another team on Day 1 and a tournament format on Day 2. We will have a camp coach on each court to run drills, officiate, and provide limited feedback. Camp runs from 9am-5pm with a break for lunch.”
