Troy Polamalu in disguise at Steelers training camp
It’s not easy for Troy Polamalu to be anywhere in Pittsburgh and go unnoticed — unless he hides the hair. NFL reporter Bo Marchionte posted a photo of Polamalu on the sideline at Pittsburgh Steelers training camp on Friday. The day started with unusually cooler 70-degree temperatures, so the California native got away with a Steelers hoodie, his famous locks all tucked up in a bucket hat and shades to complete the disguise. The legendary Steelers safety was recently named to ESPN’s top 25 players of the 21st century. Polamalu was the lone Steeler on the list, landing at No. 16. A new place called Clark's Donuts is the place to be if you are looking for a donut or two in Grove City. Clark's Donut's have been selling their homemade donuts across Mercer County and Pennsylvania since 1937. A new location has opened right in the heart of downtown in Grove City.
The Japanese House Comes to the Roxian; Historics at Pitt Race (Sun., 7/28/24)
British indie-pop musician Amber Bain brings her acclaimed project, The Japanese House, to the Roxian Theatre this evening for a concert. She plays plays guitar, synthesizer and keyboard; as well as singing. Just off touring with Maggie Rogers, Bain has recently released her country-influenced single “:)” aka Smiley Face. The moniker “The Japanese House” was inspired by a stay at a cottage in Cornwall, England, that she and her family had vacationed at for a week during her childhood. The property had been previously owned by Kate Winslet and was furnished in a Japanese style. Her latest EP is ITEIAD Sessions (In the End it Always Does) contains live versions of songs from her second album In the End It Always Does. It was released in 2023. The record “highlights heartbreak and love lost, emotional reflections on childhood trauma and identity, and the album finds the artist embracing her pop side like never before with help from Matty Healy and George Daniel (The 1975), Katie Gavin (MUNA), Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Charli XCX among others.” Special guest is Allison Ponthier. 7 p.m. 425 Chartiers Ave., McKees Rocks.

USDA Launches Rabies Vaccination Program for Wildlife in Pittsburgh
The USDA will partner with state officials to drop oral rabies vaccine baits by helicopter in the Pittsburgh area from August 6-24. The effort aims to vaccinate raccoons and curb rabies spread, with helicopters flying from Beaver County Airport.

As the longtime executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, Caster D. Binion oversees a $200 million budget and the operations of roughly 2,600 units of public housing, 6,200 Housing Choice Vouchers and 700 mixed-finance units. He also heads up HACP’s efforts to provide public housing residents with programs and services that provide workforce development, crisis support and quality-of-life enhancement.
Site of former LA fitness eyed for new store in Bethel Park
The scene of a demolished building that housed fitness centers is proposed as the site for a new store. Bethel Park Council approved the preliminary/final plan for Floor & Décor, to be located at 3000 Oxford Drive, where there previously was an LA Fitness and before that, Bally’s.

Report: Duquesne to Play Against Familiar Ivy League Team
It looks like we can add another game to the Duquesne basketball 2024-25 schedule. According to national basketball insider Rocco Miller, Duquesne and Princeton are working on an agreement to play for the second-straight year. As Miller detailed in his report, the two teams are looking to play at CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey on Nov. 8.
