    BPD: Man faces several charges after allegedly breaking into Bowie home, shooting during ‘hallucination’

    BOWIE, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Bowie Police Department (BPD) said a man is facing several charges after he allegedly broke into a home through a window and fired several rounds .

    Police said officers arrested Michael Drew Hornfeck and charged him with ten charges, including two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and firearm use in a felony/violent crime.

    BPD said that just before noon on July 9, the dispatch center received a call that a man with a gun had broken into a home through a bedroom window in the 2800 block of Sudberry Lane. During the 911 call, police said dispatch heard gunshots.

    Once at the scene, police helped several people get out of the house when officers said Hornfeck came running out with a gun.

    After orders from officers, Hornfeck dropped the gun and was arrested.

    Police said a Polymer 80 9mm and two magazines with a 30-round capacity were recovered from the scene.

    Officers also learned that during the shooting, bullets hit the home next door, but no one was home.

    According to police, Hornfeck was hallucinating when he broke into the home and started shooting.

    Hornfeck was being held at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
