BOWIE, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Six Flags America implemented a new chaperone policy Friday to increase guest safety.

Under this new policy, all guests 15 and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 to be admitted or remain in Six Flags after 4 p.m., according to the park .

At ticket entry, the chaperone must show a valid government-issued photo ID with a listed date of birth. Six Flags said that one chaperone can accompany no more than 10 guests ages 15 and younger. Chaperones must remain in the park and be accessible by phone during their stay.

The company said that any child found inside the park without a chaperone will be subject to ejection. The new policy applies to all ticket and season pass holders.

On their website, Six Flags credited safety as the main reason for enforcing this new procedure.

“Over the past few years, there have been increasing incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior at amusement parks and other major entertainment venues,” the company said on its website. “This policy is being put in place to ensure that all guests have the best time ever and leave happy and eager to visit again.”
