18th Annual School Of Rock Taking Place in St. Cloud
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- Kids who love to play music will be rocking out for the next few weeks. The 18th annual School Of Rock starts Tuesday and runs through August 1st. Sixty students who have just completed 6th through 12th grade will be forming 10 bands with each band learning two songs. They'll perform their songs on August 1st on stage at the Paramount Center for the Arts.

With 86 cars in attendance, the track staff pushed the show through and completed the evening of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action before the rain began to fall. The track itself was victorious along with Clayton Wagamon, Austin Niemeyer, Ashely Boyum, Tyler Larson, Jeff Ekdahl and Tony Jensen who all went home with hardware.
Arson suspected in Lake Street garbage fires, fire department says
MINNEAPOLIS — Authorities suspect several garbage fires on Minneapolis' West Lake Street Monday morning were intentionally set.One such fire spread to a building on the 900 block of West Lake Street just before 3:30 a.m., according to the Minneapolis Fire Department. Crews responded, searched the building and put out the fire. No one was injured, but a residence inside the building was deemed uninhabitable. The building also contained a business, which is now boarded up.While fighting that fire, the department learned of additional garbage fires on West Lake Street. An employee of a nearby business told police he saw someone setting the fires. Minneapolis police responded and detained a man, the fire department said.

Faribault standoff shuts down Interstate 35 in both directions
FARIBAULT, Minn. — A standoff with an allegedly armed suspect in southern Minnesota shut down traffic on Interstate 35 for hours Sunday afternoon.The Rice County Sheriff's Office says a vehicle police had been pursuing stopped on northbound I-35 south of Faribault city limits shortly before 3 p.m.The suspect exited the vehicle with a handgun and entered the southbound lanes of the freeway, which prompted authorities to shut down traffic in both directions and issue a shelter-in-place warning to area residents. The sheriff's office says the man paced around the interstate with a handgun as officers repeatedly commanded him to drop his weapon. He did not comply and allegedly fired multiple rounds from his gun. No injuries were reported.Using "non-lethal tactics," authorities say they arrested the suspect around 7 p.m.The standoff happened on a stretch of I-35 that is currently under construction with traffic limited to two lanes.
