A Boyce man was killed Monday in a two-vehicle fatality crash on La. 112 near Forrest Simmons Road. The crash claimed the life of 34-year-old Michael Pharis.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Sgt. Derek Senegal said Pharis was traveling east on La. 112 in a 2019 Dodge Charger. At the same time, a Freightliner 18-wheeler was traveling west.

For reasons still under investigation, the Dodge crossed the center line and struck the side of the 18-wheeler. After the collision, the 18-wheeler overturned, Senegal said.

Both drivers were properly restrained. Pharis suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler suffered minor injuries.
