The talk of the town for most of this summer has been blistering heat, with long stretches above 90 degrees. Certainly that has been the case up through June and July, where the average highs were 86.7 and 89.9 degrees respectively. For some time we were even looking at the prospect of the warmest summer on record. No longer. The month of August has so far been of relatively average complexion, with highs hovering in the 80s and even 70s at times. Late August so far isn’t looking so hot either with below average temperatures forecasted. This does beg the question: Can we avoid the 90s altogether in August? There is a good chance that we can.
