Last night, The East Los Angeles Area Planning Commission was forced to postpone their public meeting on the Tiao Properties proposed development project on César Chavéz Avenue because of the lack of a Spanish interpreter. A largely Spanish-speaking Latiné audience crowded the auditorium at Ramona Park Community Center to comment on the plan that’s been years in the making.

Murder investigation underway in East LA
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred this past Sunday on the 3300 block of Floral Drive. The shooting was reported shortly after 7 am, according to an NBC report. Sheriff’s deputies found the man dead at the scene.

Garcia cleaned the bar countertop while her friend Viva Padilla, a South LA native and owner of neighboring bookstore Re/Arte Centro Literario, sat at a table drinking a tall glass of Mexican Coca-Cola.
Christmas Parade returns for 7th time
There’s just one month left until 2023 comes to a close, and that means the holiday festivities are in full swing out here on the Eastside. One such festivity is set for Sunday on 1st Street, from Boyle Avenue to Soto Street: the 7th Annual Boyle Heights Christmas Parade. Organized by the local Community Market, the festival brings dozens of different groups from folklórico dancers, mariachi singers and school bands to community organizations to provide a festive spectacle for onlookers to enjoy.
