Ivan Gallegos, USC student from Boyle Heights, will not face charges in deadly stabbing
Ivan Gallegos, the USC student arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man on Greek Row, will not face charges, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said Thursday. Gallegos, 19, was arrested Monday night near the 700 block of West 28th Street after police said he and two others confronted a man they apparently witnessed breaking into cars. He was released from custody Thursday afternoon.

Police in riot gear swarmed a mostly empty pro-Palestinian student encampment at Cal State Los Angeles on Monday. Officers with the California Highway Patrol led the response at around 2 p.m., issuing a dispersal order to the seven people present at the encampment, according to university spokesperson Erik Frost Hollins. Protesters left voluntarily, and no arrests were made, Hollins said.

Fire tears through Boyle Heights building twice in one week
A fire tore through a Boyle Heights apartment building under construction for the second time in a week early Tuesday morning.
