Someone bought a $1 million lottery ticket from a Cumberland Farms gas station in Massachusetts and came forward on Monday to claim their prize. Although star athlete Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor refused to race on Sundays, about 100 bicyclists will take the George Street Bike Challenge for Major Taylor on July 21, on one of Worcester's steepest hills. It's one rider at a time against the clock in this short uphill time trial presented by the Seven Hills Wheelmen and Landry's Bicycles. Cheers from spectators lining the sidewalks surely will help propel the contestants to the top. Four bikes, along with other prizes, will be raffled off to benefit the Major Taylor Association. Online registration closes at 5 p.m. July 19; on-site registration and check-in opens at 8:15 a.m. July 21.
