Carvel to Reopen After Remodel in Boynton Beach

Located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Boynton Beach Boulevard and South Congress Avenue, Boynton Plaza will soon welcome back its Carvel location. The outpost of the soft-serve ice cream and cake chain, founded circa 1934, closed recently for a refresh, and it is now nearly finished.

“Carvel has been around for about 90 years,” Pranav , one of the franchisees behind the location, told What Now on Wednesday. “We’re excited to do a rebrand opening and have people come and see what’s new.”

Carvel has more than 330 locations in the United States, offering a wide range of ice cream flavors and cakes. Its Chocolate, Vanilla, and Twist soft-serve flavors are available at every location; other hard and soft flavors—like Black Raspberry, Cake Mix, and Cold Brew Coffee, to name only a handful—vary by location. Currently featured cakes include Crazy for Crunchies Cake and Strawberry Crunchies Cake.

“It all started during Memorial Day weekend in 1934,” says the Carvel website’s About page . “When Tom Carvel’s ice cream truck got a flat tire, he pulled over and began selling the slightly melted ice cream. Much to his surprise, people preferred it softer. And the rest, as they say, is history. Today, our delicious treats and classic ice cream cakes are a staple at birthdays, holiday parties, or any occasion worth celebrating.”
