Another nonstop flight is on its way to the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.

Allegiant Air announced Tuesday it will launch a new route from SRQ to the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Nov. 23. The flight is the airport’s fifth new route of the year, adding to recently announced service to New York City, Austin, Texas; Des Moines, Iowa and Plattsburgh, New York.

The route is Allegiant’s 28th from SRQ and one of the airport’s 48 nonstop flights. It’s part of Allegiant’s expansion to 13 additional cities, including service from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to the Punta Gorda Airport and the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

Portsmouth is about five miles east of New Hampshire’s coast and about an hour north of Boston. The flight — SRQ’s first direct route to New Hampshire — will start at $69.

The announcement comes as SRQ reports a 9.2% increase in passengers from June 2023 to June 2024 (337,656 from 309,127), per a press release. The airport also totaled a 7.7% increase in the 12 months from June 2023 to last month compared to the same timeframe last year.
