Here's when latest closures, lane restrictions are happening around Jefferson County
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Heads up drivers, more lane restrictions and directional closures are scheduled around Jefferson County in July and August. Sherman Minton Renewal spokesperson Andrea Brady said starting July 19 at 8 p.m. until July 20 at 1 p.m., there will be at minimum one eastbound lane open on the Sherman Minton Bridge.
Bob Baffert Churchill Downs suspension lifted after three years away from Louisville track
Churchill Downs Incorporated has rescinded trainer Bob Baffert's suspension effective immediately, according to Churchill Downs. “We are satisfied that Mr. Baffert has taken responsibility for his actions, completed a substantial penalty and is committed to running in full compliance with the rules and regulations going forward," Churchill Downs CEO Bill Carstanjen said via a news release. "All parties agree that it is time to bring this chapter to a close and focus on the future. Mr. Baffert is welcome to return to any of CDI’s racetracks, including our flagship Churchill Downs Racetrack, and we wish him and his connections good luck in their future competitive endeavors.”
Authorities identify woman hit and killed by train in Louisville's Clifton neighborhood
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman who was hit by a train and died earlier this week in Louisville's Clifton neighborhood has been identified. According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, 40-year-old Melyssa Stevenson died after being hit by a train on Tuesday morning at Stoll Avenue near Arlington Avenue, which is off Frankfort Avenue.
Baptist Health breaks ground on facility designed to streamline healthcare for patients
Baptist Health, in partnership with Dallas-based Intuitive Health, has broken ground on its third dual emergency and urgent care facility. The 11,400-square-foot Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care Glenmary will be located on Bardstown Road in Louisville and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2025. The project follows the successful launch of the Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care Jeffersonville in Jeffersonville, Indiana, in 2022, and the Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care Blankenbaker in Louisville in 2023.

NORTH VERNON, Ind. – On Thursday, July 18, at 8:15 PM, Officer Nathan Vogel of the North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) conducted a traffic stop on a white Chrysler 300 for speeding in the 800 block of S State St. Officer Vogel identified the driver as Andy L. Edgar, 54, of North Vernon. While speaking with Edgar, Officer Vogel detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage inside the Chrysler and asked Edgar to step out of the vehicle.
