Welch joins groundbreaking for Bay Ridge neighborhood project, new affordable housing in Shelburne
Welch secured federal funding for the project in 2024 . VermontBiz U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) today joined the Champlain Housing Trust (CHT), local leaders and organizations in celebrating the groundbreaking of the Bay Ridge neighborhood project, which will provide 94 new permanently affordable homes including 68 affordable apartments for rent developed by the CHT. Sen. Welch nominated and secured federal funding for the project through the FY24 Congressional Directed Spending (CDS) process.

Decision pending for student protesters arrested in October
On July 2, the Lebanon District Court held a hearing for Roan Wade ’25 and Kevin Engel ’27, two student protesters arrested on misdemeanor criminal trespass charges in October. Wade and Engel filed a motion for the College to drop their charges on May 10, according to Engel.
